Do car dealerships issue "demo" cars to salesmen?

I heard that car dealerships, not used or classic dealers, issue "demo" cars to salesmen in order to promote the vehicles and help with sales of a particular model. My mother purchased a "demo" car back in 00′ but those were different times. Does anyone know the likelihood, requirements or what auto makers do give out "demo" cars to salesmen??

Yeah, but they give them out for barely any purpose…
yes. and they will have a special dealer license plate.
Dealerships offer use of a "demo" as a perk to the top sales people as an incentive to keep up on sales levels. They don’t give them to every sales person.
All new car dealers and most premium used car dealers allow their best sales people to drive a company owned "demo" car. It’s a perk for being a top salesman and if you want to promote your dealership the last thing you want to do is have your best sales people driving around some other brand or some old ugly car. Not all salesmen get cars, but the best usually earn the right to drive home a demo.
